Jose Maria Amador Elementary School

Jose Maria Amador Elementary School in Dublin California is a great place for kids to learn. The school was named after Jose Maria Amador, who was not only an educator but also a social activist and founder of the first public high school in San Francisco. In addition, he founded the Catholic Church’s first bilingual parish and helped establish schools for Native Americans in Northern California. 

The mission statement at Jose Maria Amadors Elementary School is to provide a quality education that will prepare each student academically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically to become responsible citizens with Christian values through relationships that promote respect, dignity, and self-confidence while encouraging teamwork. 

A diverse population of students attends this elementary school from over 35 countries around the world which helps foster understanding. Each year there are two kindergartens known as the blue class and the red class. The elementary school has about 900 students including teachers. Jose Maria Amador Elementary School was rated 4 out of 10 based on test scores released by the state department of education in Oct 2014. This rating is determined by how well students shortlist on state testing which is required every year starting in 3rd grade for English/language arts and math.

The school is recognized as a Blue Ribbon School because of its excellence in education by the state department of education National Blue Ribbon Schools Program. The extended daycare service offers homework help for students after school before school begins or during lunchtime. This allows parents to work without worry that their children are safe at school while they go to work every day.

Jose Maria Amador Elementary School features an award-winning music program that includes band, chorus, guitar class, and piano lessons taught by the world-renowned director Steve Goode, who was awarded best instrumental director in 2013 by Dublin Unified School District.
