The Paw Patch Dog Park is a public dog park located at Newhall Community Park, in Concord, California. Apart from the dog park, the 126 acre community park features many wetlands, a pool, playgrounds, bocce courts, sports fields, and picnic areas. The dog park can be found by the bocce courts by the canal, just a short walk from the car park. The park also has toilets within walking distance open to the public which is very handy if you end up spending the day in this beautiful park.
The tightly fenced Paw Patch Dog Park at Newhall Community Park is the ideal place for canine socialization and training off-leash because it is very popular with dog owners in the area. There are puppies in the park many days of the week which is great if you always want your pooch to have someone to play with. Weekends are busy however, and the dog park gets crowded so keep that in mind if your canine friend is overwhelmed by a large number of dogs. The Paw Patch Dog Park at Newhall Community Park has a well-thought-out layout which consists of two separate spaces for dogs to run around and explore without leash. There is a small dog area for those under 35 pounds and another one for the big hounds.
This is also a plus for elderly and shy dogs. Both areas provide ample space for dogs to stretch their legs and receive their daily exercise dose. Thanks to the well-lit dog park, dog owners can bring their dogs in during the evenings as well as during the day for some off-leash fun. The surface of the park is grassy, and great oak trees flourish along the edges of the off-leash areas.
Nevertheless, as there are not many trees elsewhere, there isn’t much shade here. Though the owners have benches on which to relax, they are not screened so bear in mind if they plan to visit the park on a hot or rainy day. On the other hand, there are drinking fountains, and dogs will enjoy drinking from it. Free dispensers for waste bags are also open, so please ensure cleaning up after your dog if you visit to help keep this park safe and poop-free. There are plenty of trails winding through the park, including the off-leash areas, that owners can take along with their canine companions as long as they are leashed.
